| Masking is the secret to quality in Ilfochrome. There is nothing, repeat
nothing, that can come closer to revealing the magic in your slide than a
well masked Ilfochrome. A very high percentage of Ilfochromes done
straight - i.e., with nothing more than basic dodging and burning, are
simply terrible. Ilford has done a terrible disservice to the community by
not being candid in acknowledging the need and usefullness of masking on the
Ilfochrome material. I think they were afraid that demand for masking film
might increase their sales. If only Ilford wanted to sell a lot more paper
and chemicals, they would do this (and sell pin registration devices!). |
| - Also, any recommended paper to use or avoid? Unlike some companies,
Lexmark doesnt seem to make their own photo paper, so I dont have a
standard against which to compare. All Ive tried is Office Depot
(premium glossy photo; it seems to be the only photo paper of their
brand that they sell). |

likely will find even better pricing if you shop around. Where a price is not given, it means that
company doesnt sell it. Quantities were chosen arbitrarily as a compromise between economy and
