| Why am I selling? I bought it at auction at www.uBid.com, and they
claimed it had a parallel port. When I got it, I found it had a
SCSI port. Im trying to find a way to make this thing work with
Windows, but I think Im out of luck. Id prefer to keep it, but
I need to sell it before I can get another. |
| So I am looking for a good quality printing service--there are many I
see. Vistaprint.com is the cheapest and they say they use high
quality offset. They have a nice file upload preview system too. I
dont know what their work looks like or how my design might look
printed with their process. My friend is actually looking for a
company he can use to sell 4 color printing to his customers. |
| Masking is the secret to quality in Ilfochrome. There is nothing, repeat
nothing, that can come closer to revealing the magic in your slide than a
well masked Ilfochrome. A very high percentage of Ilfochromes done
straight - i.e., with nothing more than basic dodging and burning, are
simply terrible. Ilford has done a terrible disservice to the community by
not being candid in acknowledging the need and usefullness of masking on the
Ilfochrome material. I think they were afraid that demand for masking film
might increase their sales. If only Ilford wanted to sell a lot more paper
and chemicals, they would do this (and sell pin registration devices!). |
| Further, a publisher can not write off sellable invetory on its year end
taxes. Unsellable invetory, however, can be written off. We may print 1,000
of all color works needed, but if we only sell 500 books upon release, were
initially only going to print 600 book interiors, then will sit on the
remaining 400 book covers. Since book covers by themselves do not constitute
sellable invetory, those portions of the printing costs spent on those 400
covers may be written off. |
